Course purpose

To train student for the use of alternative business financing options and to learn about trends in this field.

Content (Syllabus outline)

• Traditional vs. alternative forms of business financing:

firm life cycle and funding needs
limitations of traditional forms of financing;
alternative forms of financing.

• Alternative forms of equity financing: venture capital (formal and informal), crowdfunding, ICO, private equity, IPO.
• Hybrid forms of financing.
• Alternative forms of debt financing: P2P lending, project financing, syndicated loans, special types of bonds.
• Leasing, factoring, reverse factoring, accounts receivable, fortfaiting.
• Fintech and financial innovation: meaning, forms, trends.
