Course Supervisor: Prof. Klemen Kavčič, Assoc. Prof. Ana Arzenšek
Content
Content (Syllabus outline):
The course is intended to promote the personal development of students.
During the process of creating doctoral dissertations, students face many
dilemmas and challenges. One of them is about communicating achievements and
exchanging ideas about their work. Thus, the course is intended to encourage
students to have academic discussions on progress and issues related to their
doctoral dissertations and to create communities in which they will have the
opportunity to express opinions, dilemmas and issues related to doctoral
dissertation progress.
The origin of any doctoral thesis represents an
important stage in the lifelong development of an individual. Therefore, the
content of the course also aims to encourage students to self-reflect on how the
doctoral thesis will contribute to their personal and career development as well
as to their changed role in the organization and in society.
The third set of
contents refers more specifically to the challenges and obstacles that are an
inevitable part of the dissertation preparation process. Facing these challenges
can be a significant stressor for an individual. Therefore, this set will be
dedicated to exploration of basic beliefs about progress in doctoral work and
learning about different concepts of positive psychology as well as developing
skills related to psychological resilience and growth (versus fixed)
mindset.
