Course purpose
The course purpose is to develop basic legal knowledge on the legislation that regulates functioning of the market. The students will be able to evaluate legal and illegal actions of market participants and manage the risks of non-compliance with rules regarding competition, cosumer protection and intellectual property rights.

Basic notions of market law
- Market, competition, good faith, consumer, intellectual property. The legal regime and functioning of the EU market.
Competition Law
- Bacis notions, economic aspects, legal sources
- Antitrust (cartel agreements/collusion, abuse of dominant position, concentration
- Unfair competition (notion, typical types of unfair competition)
- Legal and ethical aspects of modern marketing approaches (online marketing, social networking, influential marketing and analyzing customers on the internet in the light of processing personal data)
- Application of competition-law rules in different economic sectors
Consumer Protection Law
- Basic notions, characteristics, legal sources
- General system of consumer protection
- Specific consumer protection arrangements
- Analysis of the most important judgments of the Court of Justice of the European Union
Intellectual property Law
- Introduction to the main areas of intellectual property: Copyright law, industrial property (basic notions, sources, principles)
- Patents, trademarks, models, geographical indications, plant variety right, topographies
