DEVELOPMENT OF A BUSINESS MODEL TO COMMERCIALIZE THE INNOVATION

In the lecture we will present a methodology for development of a business model. Students will be challenged to develop and present a model for commercialization of the innovation presented in a study case. We will use the Business model canvas by Osterwalder, Pigneur & al. 2010 and the innovative technology case of “Jožef Stefan” Institute: Smartwatch application for the elderly care.

Agenda:

  • Presentation of the study case.
  • Introduction to the business model development.
  • Group work (students develop their business using the canvas).
  • Group presentations and comments.
  • Conclusions and what have we learned.
 

Robert Blatnik is an expert for technology management and spin-out development at the “Jožef Stefan” Institute Center for technology transfer and innovation. He worked as an electronic engineering technician and computer science researcher. He participated in the establishment of eleven spin-out companies, he is member of the management board of the Association of Technology Transfer Professionals of Slovenia and member of the ICT Sector Group of the Enterprise Europe Network.

He organizes and lectures at the educational and partnership events for protection of intellectual property, marketing of innovation, high-tech entrepreneurship and machmaking of researchers and industry.

He is member of the organizing committee of the International Technology Transfer Conference, where since 2010 organizes pitch competition of the best innovative technologies with business proposition from public research organizations.

He graduated at the Faculty of organizational sciences at the University of Maribor and has a master's degree of new media and e-science at the Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School. He was educated at the EDP programme at MIT Sloan School of Management in USA. He holds a Certified Licencing Professional (CLP) licence.

 

 

The lecture will be delivered as part of the subject ''Creative intelligence and innovation'' in the Undergraduate Programme Management with Prof. Borut Likar, PhD.
