The project's objectives
The potential of the wine and gastronomic offer as a complementary activity of farm tourism has not yet been adequately explored and valorized in the context of the development of wine and gastronomic tourism (with an emphasis on wine tourist routes), even if this potential is perceived and already recognized in strategic development documents. In contrast to this, in practice we actually observe the marginalization and far from adequate positioning of tourist farms in the context of Slovenia - the European gastronomic region 2021. The country could also build its visibility on the best tourist farms. Due to their spatial dispersion and insufficient presence in the offer of wine and gastronomic tourism, the role of tourist farms is significantly weaker than it should be. With the project, we therefore want to strengthen the presence and increase the competitiveness of tourist farms in the context of the development of wine and gastronomic tourism in Slovenia. On the one hand, the project contributes to the development of science and the profession (filling gaps in knowledge), and on the other hand, especially on the basis of analyzes of the situation and needs of agricultural operators, it proposes concrete strategic measures to promote integration, increase competences, improve marketing and valorization of unused resources. which is also the basis for accepting appropriate support measures (from the intended public funds). An important quality of the project is its distinct interdisciplinary orientation, as it deals with some very specific questions, which are solved by experts from very different academic backgrounds (natural sciences, social sciences and humanities) with their research approaches and knowledge. Therefore, the team consists of researchers from three Slovenian universities (University of Maribor, the University of Ljubljana and the University of Primorska), which cover knowledge in the fields of agronomy, economics, ethnology, geography and tourism studies. The problem approach dictates the implementation of activities and analytical methods, which together enable a holistic treatment and a view from different angles, so in addition to partial analyses, we can also expect a comprehensive synthesis with proposed solutions and measures - from the point of view of different disciplines and for different sectors.
