The main objective of the project is to draft recommendations and indicators for self-monitoring and further self-evaluation (the so-called valorisation metrics) of research organisations in their activities to support the development and strengthening of knowledge transfer into practice in Slovenia.

Duration

The project's objectives
Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs), now often known as 'Knowledge Transfer Offices', have long been recognised as key intermediaries of academic and research knowledge into the wider environment, e.g. of newly developed technological solutions into practice or into the economy (patents), and more recently also of various forms of new knowledge for the direct needs of society (so-called societal innovation).
One of the central and constant challenges for research organisations, both abroad and in Slovenia, in this mission is the need to monitor and evaluate the impact of their own internal activities and support for knowledge transfer processes. Pursuing the described self-evaluation needs of research organisations in their attitude towards knowledge transfer, the main objective of this project is therefore to prepare baselines and recommendations for monitoring and further evaluation (the so-called valorisation metrics) of research organisations in their internal organisational and process support for the development and strengthening of knowledge transfer in practice in Slovenia.
The interdisciplinary team of the project team, all coming from the fields of work of knowledge transfer organisations in research and university environments in Slovenia, will carry out the following three overarching project activities in order to develop their own proposals of indicators for self-evaluation of research organisations in Slovenia in the field of knowledge transfer:
1) a comprehensive analysis of the review of existing theoretical and practical knowledge on knowledge transfer in research organisations,
2) an analysis of the current status and performance of research organisations receiving stable funding in the field of knowledge transfer in Slovenia; and
3) an international comparative analysis, with a particular focus on the evaluation of the impact of knowledge valorisation activities in five carefully selected foreign research organisations, from which, due to their positive practices to date, it is also possible to learn for the purposes of the Slovenian system for self-evaluation of the work and impact of knowledge transfer in research organisations.
