Exciting Development in the Realm of XR Technology & Web 4.0 in Slovenia

On September 26th, 2023, at the Center Noordung in Vitanje, the national XR and Web4.0 partnership was established, aimed at fostering digital competencies. As a highlight, attendees witnessed the unveiling of a 3D avatar of Herman Potočnik Noordnung, powered by AI, which interactively engaged, moderated, and even answered questions. The event was also attended by assist. dr. Peter Štrukelj, a member of the ThinkXR research team from UPFM.

Kudos to AI experts Luka Slapnik and Žiga Jaka Gobec, mentored by Aleš Pevc from Technology Park Ljubljana for this remarkable innovation. Neža Pavlič Brečko, Director of the Noordung Center, announced the digital avatar will now host Q&A sessions on space tech developments at the center.

Experts including Jasmina Mihelak-Zupančič, dr. Jože Guna and Aleš Pevc illuminated the activities of the Think XR project, spotlighting the latest XR tech trends in education and business.

Anja Blaj, president at Blockchain Think Tank Slovenia and policy adviser at European Crypto Initiative presented the European Commission’s strategy on Web4.0 and digital worlds, while Tadej Slapnik emphasized the partnership's goal: crafting a cohesive national XR strategy to advance digital competency in Slovenia.

The Think XR project, backed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, offers a golden chance to uplift digital skills and education in XR tech. Multiple institutions and businesses have teamed up, betting big on the XR future.

With Think XR, we're bridging experts, educators, mentors, businesses, and XR tech trailblazers. It's a stride towards a digital future that enriches society and the economy. A heartfelt thanks to all partners and stakeholders for their unwavering commitment.
