The students and staff of the Faculty of Management of the University of Primorska were devastated by the news that our colleague, professor, and coworker, Prof. Borut Likar, had passed away. A key figure in our academic environment, he shared his knowledge, dedication, and passion for research, teaching, and innovation with us for many years. His outstanding contribution to the Faculty, the University, and the wider academic community has been invaluable.
Borut Likar was a research counselor and a full professor at the UP-Faculty of management and University of Ljubljana-Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, where he was also a member of the research lab. He was the President of the Academic Assembly at UP FM as well. His work encompasses the management of creativity, R&D, technology, and innovation processes in the educational system and industry. His entire bibliography encompasses over 1000 records. He was an innovator, initiator, and the head of more than 60 successful R&D (inter)national projects as well as the author of 12 patents, countless models, and copyright works, of which many proved to be very marketable. He was a recipient of 24 (inter)national awards. Among his numerous lectures, the talks at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva and two at the European Parliament in Brussels were met with an extensive response.
Dr. Borut Likar will remain in our hearts as an outstanding personality who enriched our Faculty and academic community with his work and passion. His legacy will live on in us and inspire us to continue our work and research and to strive for the high standards he set.
Our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all those who loved him. Dr. Borut Likar will always remain in our memories and hearts.
