Today, February 6. 2025, the 1st regular meeting of the Consortium of University Offices for Enhancing Knowledge Transfer Capacity (UNIK@TT) took place at the Rectorate of the University of Primorska, hosted by the Center for Development and Knowledge Transfer of the University of Primorska, Faculty of Management (CRPZ UP FM). In the opening part of the meeting, the participants were welcomed by the Rector of the University of Primorska, prof. dr. Klavdija Kutnar, who emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities and joint efforts to strengthen the transfer of knowledge and technologies both among universities and other research institutions.
The UNIK@TT project is a joint initiative co-created by three public universities in Slovenia - the University of Ljubljana (consortium leader), the University of Maribor, and the University of Primorska—along with 10 public research institutes. This consortium aims to improve the transfer of scientific knowledge and innovations from academic institutions to the economy and wider society, while also strengthening the role of universities in the Slovenian and global innovation ecosystem. In parallel, there is a complementary consortium of public research organizations, named KTO3, led by the Jožef Stefan Institute. The main goals of the UNIK@TT consortium include supporting researchers and students through high-quality collaboration in transferring their research results to the economy and society, as well as establishing a unified standard for knowledge valorization. It is important not to forget about key innovations, such as social innovation. A strong role is played by the KTO network, which enables the exchange of experiences and the development of new services for researchers and companies.
The day proceeded in a productive spirit, with an overview of past and future activities, as well as presentations of best practice examples, such as social innovation. In the following, working meetings were held on various topics, such as KTO promotion, collaboration with stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem, and preparation of annual plans for 2025. The meeting concluded with successful networking and a detailed discussion on challenges and plans for the future.
