On March 25, students attending the Principles of Entrepreneurship lecture had the opportunity to learn from three distinguished guest lecturers: mag. Tina Jančar Matekovič from the Regional Development Center Koper and entrepreneurial couple Eva and Alexander Vasilyev from Russia. The lecture provided valuable insights into business development, networking, and entrepreneurship.
Mrs. Matekovič introduced students to the work of the Regional Development Center Koper, with a particular focus on the PONI program. This mentoring initiative supports aspiring entrepreneurs by offering workshops, mentorships, networking opportunities, and even paid employment. Eligible applicants must be temporary or permanent residents of the Obalno-Kraška region and have a viable business idea. The program supports a wide range of industries, including architecture, jewelry, cosmetics, beauty, counseling, and tourism as we have seen examples.
During her presentation, Mrs. Matekovič also shared key business advice, emphasizing customer focus, the importance of market research, idea validation, financial management, networking, and adaptability. She also highlighted several success stories of young entrepreneurs who launched their businesses through the PONI program.

Eva and Alexander Vasilyev shared their journey of emigrating to Slovenia in search of better opportunities. Mrs. Vasilev, with extensive international experience in cities like Paris and Venice, stressed the importance of networking, personal branding, participating in various projects, and stepping out of one's comfort zone through public speaking and learning foreign languages.
Dr. Aleksandar Vasilev, an expert in mathematics and computer graphics, provided students with insights from his career. He encouraged them to explore different ideas, seize opportunities, and recognize that entrepreneurship not only builds experience but also strengthens a CV for future employment opportunities.

The guest lecture offered students valuable knowledge and inspiration for their future entrepreneurial endeavors. More information about the PONI program and the Regional Development Center Koper can be found at Koper Development Center.
