MIC 2025 in Zadar: A Successful Start with a Focus on Doctoral Research and Artificial Intelligence

The Management International Conference (MIC), organized by the Faculty of Management at the University of Primorska, the University of Trieste, the University of Zadar, and the UP FM Center for Knowledge Development and Transfer, is celebrating its 24th consecutive year this year. This time, the event is taking place from June 4th to 7th in the beautiful Dalmatian city of Zadar, where we began with a so-called pre-conference day primarily dedicated to doctoral students and the presentation of their research ideas.

During the pre-conference day, eight innovative research ideas were presented, addressing various current challenges in the field of management. The students showcased their ideas through brief "elevator pitch" presentations, which facilitated lively exchanges of opinions and feedback within an academically encouraging environment.

This was followed by two professional workshops led by Dr. Marco Balzano. The first workshop, titled “On Methodological Rigor – Conducting Systematic Literature Reviews Using Artificial Intelligence,” provided participants with practical insights into using modern AI tools for conducting thorough and reliable research reviews. The second workshop, “Shaping Theoretical Contributions – Artificial Intelligence as a Companion in Knowledge Structuring,” focused on ways researchers can enhance the value of their contributions by leveraging AI tools.

We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Marco Balzano, whose expertise, dedication, and practical guidance greatly enriched the program and contributed to an excellent experience for all participants.

Today, the team from the Center for Knowledge Development and Transfer at the University of Primorska (Faculty of Management) participated in a working meeting within the framework of the Enterprise Europe Network, hosted by EEN Split (University of Split). The morning session was dedicated to presentations of best practices and networking with partners from the Zadar region.

This was followed by an organized company visit with partner Mr. Simon Požek and a business meeting with the sales team of Hotel Pinija, where they learned about the hotel’s business strategy, operating model, and the entire resort. The meeting concluded with a shared lunch and informal networking.

The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation among EEN partners and to prepare for a major international B2B event to be jointly organized.

In the afternoon, the participants of the pre-conference day took a tour of the city of Zadar. The tour took place in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, offering attendees an excellent opportunity for informal socializing and networking. The day concluded with a social event that brought together doctoral students from various countries, fostering new connections and potential future collaborations.

Enthusiastic about the first day, we are already looking forward to the next day and the continuation of the conference, which will bring many interesting discussions and insights into contemporary management challenges.
