Congratulations to Sr. Instr. Martina Kovačič (UP PEF and UP FM), who was appointed European Climate Ambassador on January 8, 2025 by the European Climate Pact, an initiative of the European Commission and the European Green Deal, a strategy to achieve climate neutrality in Europe by 2050. The initiative aims to involve citizens and organizations more effectively in considering, finding and implementing sustainable solutions.
During her 12-month ambassadorship, the University of Primorska lecturer will seek to raise awareness of the importance of climate action, organize events and engage the local community in more sustainable practices. To this end, she will dedicate herself to writing articles in this field, giving lectures and collaborating with local initiatives.
As we were confided in the statement of Sr. Instr. Martina Kovačič, her application for the ambassadorship was motivated by her previous efforts to integrate the principles of climate action into her academic, personal and local environment. Through her work at the University of Primorska and her collaboration with local organizations, she aims to educate, advocate and influence the sustainable development of our community. She continues: "I believe that climate action is inextricably linked to human rights, and that is the perspective I want to share as an ambassador of the EU Climate Pact".
European Climate Pact Ambassadors are people who act in their personal capacity and not on behalf of the European Commission. Ambassadors are committed to informing, inspiring and supporting climate action in their communities and networks, contributing to the European Climate Pact.
