The Use of Psychometric Testing in Modern HR Processes: Guest Lecture by Anže Dejak

In our HR Management class, we had the opportunity to attend an online guest lecture via Zoom held by Anže Dejak, a psychologist and a professional from the HR field. The focus of the session was on the use of psychometric testing in the recruitment and selection process.

Psychometric tests are tools used to measure a candidate’s cognitive abilities, personality traits, and behavioral tendencies. These tests help companies gain a deeper understanding of whether a candidate is a good fit for a specific role or the organizational culture. They are especially valuable in making objective and data-driven hiring decisions.

Anže introduced the company he works for HR Potentials. Their platform for psychometric testing allows businesses to implement and manage psychometric assessments efficiently. It offers features such as remote monitoring, ensuring the integrity of assessments conducted outside traditional settings, and provides access to over 900 customizable job profiles, aiding in precise candidate-role alignment.

During the session, we engaged in a practical exercise where we posed potential interview questions to Anže before and after reviewing his psychometric assessment results. This activity highlighted how such assessments can inform and enhance the interview process, enabling us to ask more targeted and insightful questions based on the candidate's profile. It demonstrated the practical utility of psychometric tools in real-world HR scenarios.

Students were also encouraged to ask questions, particularly about how these tests influence interviews and decision-making. The importance of using psychometric tools for modern HR practices was emphasized, highlighting how they contribute to a more strategic and informed approach to talent acquisition.

Overall, the lecture provided useful real-world insight into how psychological assessments are integrated into HR processes and how technology, like the HR Potentials platform, is transforming recruitment practices.

The contribution was prepared by student Nina Nikolić.
